Electrical properties: Hexagonal boron nitride is a good conductor of heat and a typical electrical insulator. The normal temperature conductivity can reach 10^16~10^180Ω.cm. Even under the temperature of 1000°C, the resistivity is still 10^14~10^69Ω.cm. The dielectric constant of HBN is 3~5, the dielectric loss is (2~8) X 10^-4, and the breakdown strength is twice that of Al2O3, reaching 30~40kV/mm, so it is an ideal material of high frequency insulation, high voltage insulation, high temperature insulation.
Chemical Properties: HBN has excellent chemical stability. It does not react with general metals, rare earth metals, precious metals, semiconductor materials, glass, molten salts, inorganic acids and alkalis. It neither wets nor acts on most metal melts, such as steel, stainless steel, AI, Fe, Ge, Cu, Ni, Zn, etc. Therefore, it can be used as a protective sleeve for high temperature thermocouples, crucibles and utensils for melting metals, pipes for conveying liquid metals, pump parts, molds for cast steel, and high-temperature electrical insulating materials.
