Silicon nitride is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula Si3N4. It is an important structural ceramic material with high hardness, lubricity, wear resistance, atomic crystal, and oxidation resistance at high temperature. Silicon nitride has a wide range of applications.
Firstly, it can be used in manufacture of structural devices. First, balls and rollers, sliding bearings, sleeves, valves, and structural devices that require wear resistance, high temperature resistance, and corrosion resistance in metallurgy, chemical industry, machinery, aviation, aerospace and energy industries. Second, nozzles for rockets and missiles.
Secondly,
it can also be used as surface treatment of metals and other materials.
Like, molds, cutting tools, steam turbine blades, turbine rotors, and
cylinder inner wall coatings;
Thirdly, it is a raw material for many composite materials,such as
metal, ceramic and graphite-based composite materials, rubber, plastic,
coatings, adhesives and other polymer-based composite materials.
Fourth, it can be made into wear-resistant self-lubricating nanoparticle films, which are used for surface protection of mobile phones and high-end automobiles, as well as additives for wear-resistant coatings and electrophoretic paints, which have high wear-resistant properties.
The application of silicon nitride will become more and more extensive in the future.
