Alumina properties and material advantages

Alumina (Al₂O₃) is an inorganic non-metallic material with the following core characteristics:

High hardness:

Alumina ceramics with a purity of ≥99.7% can reach a Mohs hardness of 9-9.5, a Rockwell hardness of HRA80-90, and a compressive strength of 2000-2300 MPa, far exceeding ordinary steel (120-180 MPa).
High hardness is due to the dense crystal structure and strong chemical bonds (mainly ionic bonds, including some covalent bonds), making Alumina Plate widely used in wear-resistant parts (, aerospace thermal protection systems.

Corrosion resistance:

‌Chemical stability‌
The ionic bond between aluminum and oxygen in the alumina (Al₂O₃) crystal is strong, the chemical properties are stable, and it is not easy to react with corrosive media. For example:
Resistance to strong acids (sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, etc.)
Tolerance to strong alkalis (sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, etc.)
Stability to organic solvents (alcohols, ketones, ethers)
‌Physical structure advantages‌
The material's dense crystal structure can effectively block the penetration of corrosive media and reduce the risk of internal damage. In addition, the higher the Al₂O₃ content, the more significant the corrosion resistance.

High temperature resistance:

High temperature stability: Alumina performs well at high temperatures and is not prone to cracking or deformation due to thermal stress. Its low thermal expansion coefficient is similar to that of metals, further enhancing its application potential in high temperature environments.
‌ Temperature range: The temperature range of alumina can usually reach more than 1500 degrees Celsius, and the specific value depends on its preparation process and material purity. C Ersol alumina sheet can withstand temperatures up to 1600°C

Excellent electrical insulation:

Alumina has good electrical insulation properties, which is mainly due to its high purity, low impurity content and stable crystal structure. The electrical insulation of alumina is mainly reflected in its high resistivity and low dielectric constant, which enables it to be used as a high-quality insulator in the electronics field and withstand higher voltages without electron leakage. Its dielectric constant is about 9.3-10.

Lightweight:

Density of 3.96g/cm³, 30% lighter than traditional metal materials, suitable for areas with weight reduction needs.
